Pure Pilates served as a winter training center for several of the Olympians who competed in the 2012 London Olympics. In particular, the British Olympic Swim team has trained with Pure Pilates prior to the 2012 London games. Pure Pilates clients Liam Tancock was 4th in the Men’s 4 x 100 Medley Relay and took 5th in the Men’s 100 meter Backstroke. Pure Pilates client Caitlin McClatchey was 7th in the Women’s 200 meter freestyle and finished 5th in both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 freestyle relay. Additionally, Pure Pilates client Francesca Halsall took 5th in the women’s 50 meter freestyle and client Elizabeth Simmonds finished 4th in the Women’s 200 meter backstroke – you will recall this is the race American swimmer Missy Franklin won Gold & set a new World Record.
The Olympic Swim Team made their winter home in Fort Lauderdale and did their swimming everyday followed by Pilates training. Besides improving breathing & muscle control, Team Great Britain (Team GB) added Pilates to their training regime to improve strength & flexibility and develop an effortless and powerful swimming stroke. Pure Pilates applaudes their accomplishments at the 2012 London Olympics.
